- Provide a clear opportunity for a content creator or publisher to develop a quality story from the pitch
- Be written in a style consistent with the audience on NewsBasis, who are media professionals
- Provide a compelling description of the news item or story idea such that a NewsBasis member can determine if they are interested based on the headline, summary and details (i.e. no link bait)
- Ideally, contain factual data and links that support the story or provide additional background for consideration
- Not contain contact information in the pitch – interested journalists will contact you via the system and/or look up your profile and contact you directly.
Story Pitches will not be approved if they are:

- Determined to be detrimental to the NewsBasis community
- Determined to be of minimal value to the NewsBasis community
- Considered direct commercial solicitations a.k.a. SPAM
- Solicitations for employment disguised as a story idea
- Press releases pasted into NewsBasis
- Offensive or distasteful
- Poorly written or incomprehensible
- FILLED WITH ALL-CAPS SENTENCES
- Heavily laden with irrelevant keywords and search-bait
