What is basemap ECU?

A basemap is a starting calibration that is a “best guess” as to what settings (including fuel tables, ignition tables, etc.) will work best for your particular engine setup. The basemap is a starting point to get up and running. The basemap is set up to run your engine configuration with your injector size, etc.

What are maps in tuning?

MAP tune just means fueling based off MAP sensor readings (in addition to a couple other readings like IAT and rpm.) It tends to be a much better approach to tuning these cars and can provide smoother power delivery and quicker throttle response.

Are KTuner base maps safe?

The canned tunes created by Hondata, MAP, KTuner and TSP are conservative and have proven reliable. The issues I’ve seen come from misuse, abuse and in some cases, neglect by owners.

Flash the calibration onto your vehicle. Plug the Flashpro into the OBD2 port with the ignition switched on but the engine is not running. Hold down the program button for 3 seconds and then release. The program light will flash for 1 minute and 30 seconds while the calibration is uploaded.

What does a base tune mean?

A base map is basically just adjusted to your mods, making sure your car is accepting the changes, making sure everything is good before things start getting turned up. Basically this is your tuner dipping his toe into your car as opposed to just straight cannon balling in and hoping for the best.

Is Base map free?

One of the newest apps to hit the market, and my current source of information, is BaseMap. Users can also purchase an add-on for $10 per year that gives you access to addition hunting information. There is also a free version that provides a lot of great mapping options.

Hondata Vault uses the Hondata forum for user accounts. If you have an account on the Hondata user forum, then you can access Hondata Vault using your forum user name and password. If you need help with your password, Lost Password will redirect you to the Hondata Forum where you can reset your password.

Can a custom basemap be used for tuning?

Our custom basemap program is a BASEMAP only. We have extensive experience developing programming for engines and our basemaps typically run very well, however, it is impossible to develop a final tuned map without having your vehicle here on a dyno for a live tuning session.
