Does writing a book look good for college?
If you get a book published and you include that on your application they might check and verify that information. Of course it might help toward acceptance. But if you go that route you better write it and get published well in advance. Colleges just want to make sure you can write before they accept you.
Will writing a book get you into Harvard?
Not unless it is a really good novel. Just writing 000 words with a plot and good characters is not particularly impressive these days. Getting those words on the New York Times Bestseller list, now that will get the attention of any admissions director (but you’re still going to need good grades).
