The extended essay is an independent, self-directed piece of research, finishing with a 4,000-word paper. One component of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme (DP) core, the extended essay is mandatory for all students.

The IB likes structure. Your EE needs a clear introduction (which should be one to two double-spaced pages), research question/focus (i.e., what you’re investigating), a body, and a conclusion (about one double-spaced page). An essay with unclear organization will be graded poorly.
How Much is ee out of?

How is the EE assessed?

Made up of the three required components, the DP core aims to broaden students’ educational experience and challenge them to apply their knowledge and skills. The three core elements are: Creativity, activity, service, in which students complete a project related to those three concepts.
Can you take 7 IB subjects?
A lot of IB DP schools won’t let you… some do, just depending on the class. If you REALLY want to commit to 7 subjects you will need to have a serious conversation with whoever is in charge of helping with scheduling and class assignments.
